Dessert Recipes For The Slow Cooker!

Did you know you can cook desserts in your slow cooker? You can even make desserts that are typically baked, like layered bars. Here are some tips and recipes for making dessert with your slow cooker.

 

Slow Cooker Pudding

Rice and bread pudding are two great desserts to start with your slow cooker. Here are two basic recipes you can use as a springboard for your own creative additions.

Bread Pudding:

Place 8 slices of cubed bread into your greased slow cooker.

Beat together:
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

Pour over bread cubes and cook on High for 1 hour, then on Low 3 to 4 hours.

Rice Pudding:

Mix directly in your slow cooker:
1 cup white rice (uncooked)
1 cup water
8 cups milk

cook on High for 3 hours. Then mix in a bowl:
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt and stir into rice in slow cooker.

Cook on High another 30 minutes.

 

Slow Cooker Seven Layer Bars

For these treats, you’ll need a bread or cake pan that fits inside your slow cooker.

In the pan, place the following ingredients in this order:
1/4 cup melted butter,
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs,
1/2 cup chocolate chips,
1/2 cup butterscotch chips,
1/2 cup flaked coconut (unsweetened),
1/2 cup chopped nuts such as peanuts or almonds, and
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk.

Place the pan in your slow cooker, cover, and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours.

 

Slow Cooker Fudge Cake

You can bake a chocolate cake in your slow cooker! You’ll need a cake pan that fits in your slow cooker for this one, too. This recipe one even makes its own frosting. Here’s how.

Beat together in a mixer for 2 minutes:
2 1/2 cups chocolate fudge pudding cake mix,
2 eggs,
3/4 cup water, and
3 tablespoons oil.

Pour into greased and floured cake pan and top batter with 1/3 cup pecan halves.

In a bowl, mix:
1/4 cup chocolate syrup,
1/4 cup warm water, and
3 tablespoons sugar; spoon evenly over batter.

Cover and bake on high 2 to 3 hours.

 

Slow Cooker Easy Cherry Dessert

This recipe has only 4 ingredients (only 3 if you leave out the nuts).

In greased slow cooker, pour one 21-oz can of cherry pie filling.
In a bowl, combine 1 package yellow cake mix and 1/2 cup melted butter to make a crumbly mixture.
Sprinkle this over the cherry pie filling and top with 1/3 cup chopped walnuts (optional).
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2.
